SPOTLIGHT ON SUMMER HATS

SPOTLIGHT ON SUMMER HATS

Finding a weather-appropriate outfit while the mercury climbs more and more everyday can be quite a challenge, especially when you’re trapped in the city – walking on the burning pavement or waiting for the subway on a choky, humid platform, are most likely to be regarded as acts of reckless bravery. Loose-fit dresses, distressed denim shorts or embroidered shirts in airy fabrics + a pair of standout shades and a bottle of natural water – my go-to pieces when dressing-up to confront the ball of fire waiting outside my comfy home. Plus a wide-brimmed straw hat…Till this season, I grooved on them from the distance, living with the wrong impression that I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing a wide-brimmed hat in the city (“better to save it for the beachside”). However, the myriad of street-style pictures and the countless minutes spent in front of the mirror, trying on dozens of different hats, plus the headaches the golden orb gifted me with every time I stepped out of the house wearing nothing on my head, got me into falling for the aforementioned accessory – wide-brimmed, fedoras or Panama hats, they exude an addictive blend of glamour and mystery, injecting a dose of chicness even in the most basic outfits.  My go-to summer 2015 hats, down-below.
