OVERDRESSED
Although I am usually really careful when choosing my outfits for a certain event, there have been a pile of occasions when I felt extremely uncomfortable because of… OVERDRESSING. Yeah, you know the feeling when you dress up to go to a garden party and you’re the only one who doesn’t know it is actually a picnic? Or when the night out you were preparing for days, suddenly transforms itself from dinner-date to a walk in the park? Who would like to take a walk in the park dressed in a mini, wearing stilettos and a box clutch? Not to mention that one occasion when I was ready to go to a cocktail-party and I had to take a quick stop at the mall right before…Strappy sandals, wavy hair, elegant dress…The perfect ingredients for a shopping spree, right?
Excepting the few occasions I just named and some similar to them, somehow excusable, I just can’t get over this “overdressing” situation when it’s premeditated. I mean, there are attention-grabbers who would do just about anything to steal the spotlight for a sec…No matter where or how…You know who I’m talking about… the young “fashionistas” who wear platforms and sequined satchels on Saturdays at the mall or the “connaisseurs” who stay two hours in front of their wardrobe to choose how to dress for their visit at the dentist…I mean who would go to the dentist in stilettos on a weekend morning?
I want to know: what’s the point of overdressing?
