WELCOME TO BRASSERIE GABRIELLE
Yesterday, Karl Lagerfeld welcomed us to his newest playground, the Brasserie Gabrielle, a place where Parisians and foreigners gather together to celebrate the French traditions, to eat a morning croissant and to drink a flute of champagne, agreeing that France is not a bad place to live in after all. The address of this new Parisian hotspot? Le Grand Palais, transformed in a real-life coffee shop with polished wood, leather details and faux-mosaic floor – though delightful, it was a bit too vast for the guests to feel the coziness of their average street corner café. A striking vibe of the modernized 60’s was felt throughout the room once the models hit the runway from two directions, walking around the bar as if searching for the perfect seat before finally deciding on a bar stool or on a banquet – quite familiar, isn’t it? An impressive array of 98 diverse looks gathering reinterpreted elements from the classic Chanel – suits with blouson jackets, tweed, a scarf-hemmed skirt – and the present’s obsession for everything healthy, for sport and comfort – sweaters, cardigans, classic jackets, a v-neck pull covering a sweater gown. Only a style of shoe was present throughout the show, a toe-capped slingback in beige and black – perfectly comfortable style that any of us would choose when heading to a meeting downtown, keeping it for the evening as well. The stars of the evening ensembles – trapeze LBDs, ruffled aprons worn with tweed jackets and skinny trousers – were teamed with handbags in the shape of plates, giving a touch of real life in wonderland.
