Spices are well known throughout history as owning powerful healing properties that helped generation after generation – today, they are mostly coveted for the delicious flavor they lend to our meals. Still, the spice cabinet we only turn to while cooking can quickly become our best kept beauty secret, becoming a super-useful at-home SPA. Here’s how spices can be used beyond the doors of our kitchen, solving our most important cosmetic-related needs.
WHAT TO USE:
PAPRIKA: Paprika is more than a spice that adds flavor and color to Hungarian meals, it also improves the overall appearance of your skin. Containing beta-carotene, iron and vitamins, this well-known spice is set to keep the signs of aging at bay. Promoting a bright complexion and preventing the wrinkles from forming, paprika most likely deserves your total attention.
CAYENNE PEPPER: Besides speeding up your metabolism and promoting weight loss, cayenne pepper is great for your skin, helping you get a flawless complexion. Increasing the blood flow through the skin, cayenne pepper treats the acne, preventing its reappearance. Rich in vitamin C, vitamin E and other anti-oxidants, cayenne pepper will promote the youth of your skin, keeping it at bay from wrinkles and other signs of aging.
TURMERIC: One of India’s staple spices, turmeric is an excellent anti-wrinkle and anti-bacterial agent – packed with anti-inflammatory properties, the well-known spice fights acne, keeping the skin looking flawless. Containing anti-oxidants, turmeric helps stimulate cell growth, maintaining skin’s elasticity and its young appearance.
NUTMEG: Packed with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agents, nutmeg helps banish clogged pores and fights acne. The stimulating properties will help the cell renewal, making the fine lines on your face fade. Due to its curative properties, nutmeg is a great remedy for scars and signs of sunburn.
CLOVES: With anti-bacterial properties, cloves are a great skin cleansing agent, leaving it soft and flawless. Extremely potent in curing blemishes and scars, clove oil works as a chemical peeling, exfoliating the injured skin and making it appear healthier. The inviting scent is a bonus that will enhance your senses.
BLACK PEPER: One of the most used spices, black pepper contains potassium, magnesium, vitamin K and vitamin C, becoming a great skincare agent. Due to its anti-oxidant properties, black pepper improves your skin condition, fighting wrinkles and aging signs.
CINNAMON: Full of fibers, magnesium, calcium and iron, and packed with anti-aging properties, cinnamon is a great go-to in skincare. It contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that help fighting acne and pimples. Cinnamon also removes the dead skin, restoring its natural health and youth.
