FACE FITNESS

FACE FITNESS

No secret: I truly dislike going to the gym – the sound of the running steps on the treadmill absorbs my energy before even starting to work out – however, after an hour of pure torture, my body seems more than grateful for my display of courage. All in the name of health…and youth…and beauty…After all, I’d lie to state that compliments of the type “you look so fit” get to pass by unnoticed.

The same rut when it comes to my face – as tired as I am, as lazy as I’d feel, as bored as I’d get, evening massage is not an option, is a must – almost like brushing my teeth before bed (I wouldn’t be able to sleep without doing it). Although the benefits of the thirty minutes of daily massage aren’t yet visible with the bare eye – only because in the twenties is less likely to fear frown lines or crow’s feet – I feel like I’ll thank myself for the effort sometimes in the next decade. Trying to keep up with everything involving the delay of any sign of aging on my face, I feel ready to explore the face-fitness segment, analysing some of the most popular exercising devices – some of them reminding me of ancient instruments of torture – and their features.

THE FACIAL FLEX ULTRA

Said to be a natural alternative to the facelift, this well-known gadget has its roots back in 1989, when it was invented as a treatment to nerve damage and speech disorders.

Using the proven principle of dynamic resistance exercise, this tiny device works over 30 muscle groups covering the face, chin and neck.  Increasing muscle strength and skin tone, boosting blood circulation and reducing a sagging jawline and double chin are its most significant benefits. It promises a firmer, younger-looking face with just two minutes of use, twice a day, with noticeable improvements in four -six weeks. Sounds too good to be true? Only time will tell…

THE CELL ROLLER

Described as an easy-to-use cheek and chin massager, the cell roller promises to fight against shaggy skin, increasing its elasticity and tightness. A constant use will lead to a slimmer face, helping the blood’s circulation and toning the face muscles.

THE NECKLINE SLIMMER

Invented by Paul Younane, a renowned physiotherapist, this neck toner uses progressive resistance to firm the neck muscles while lifting shaggy skin for a youth-packed result. Promising to redefine jawlines and firm chins, to alter profiles and to reverse the effects of aging without plastic surgery, the neckline slimmer has gained quite a reputation among the face-fitness enthusiasts. However, the users’ opinions about the “miraculous” device are  quite controversial, while some consider it a true exercising gem, some others look at it as potentially dangerous, claiming that instead of improving the neck-area issues, it actually makes things much worse, creating muscle imbalances within your neck and possibly leading to some serious cervical issues.

THE FACIAL SMOOTHIES

Although not officially a face training device, the anti-wrinkle patches are said to reduce lines in only twenty minutes. All you have to do is to apply them on the affected area – forehead, between the eyes and across the forehead as well as the corners of the eyes and around the mouth. Made of natural, skin-friendly fabrics, these patches will gently re-educate the underlying muscles to assume their correct, relaxed and natural appearance.

THE PAO SMILE TRAINER

Invented in Japan and endorsed by Cristiano Ronaldo, this beauty gadget is exercising the face muscles, focusing on the mouth area – it is said to eradicate the smile lines, while leading to a firm and well defined face contour. It also works the corners of the mouth, turning them up for a youth-filled result. Compared to a dancing class for the mouth, a Pao Fitness session lasts for 30 seconds and must be repeated twice a day – the steps are pretty simple to follow: first, you have to form an O with your mouth, then hold the mouthpiece located in the center with your lips; next, bob your head up and down to swing both ends of the bar.
