5 SLEEPING HABITS THAT ARE DAMAGING YOUR LOOK
Beauty sleep – the amount of time a person needs to sleep in order to look good in the morning. If only things were that easy…Not only once have I woke up after eight to nine hours of sleep looking more tired than the night before. Then why is it called “beauty sleep” I asked myself with a blend of confusion and despair, staring at the one at the other side of the mirror. Where is the radiant complexion, where are the wide-awake eyes, where are those luscious lips? All I got instead are a dull appearance, puffy eyes and crackled lips! Why? Apparently the way we sleep has everything to do with our next-morning appearance. Here are the beauty habits that can cause damage to your look, transforming a “beauty sleep” into a “beauty nightmare”.
1.Not removing make-up
I bet you knew it already and still, there are times when only the thought of crawling to the bathroom to remove your make-up is making you tired. Still, as tired as you were, this is one rule you’re never supposed to break – with or without make-up on; our complexions are the perfect environment for different bacteria so cleaning it before bed is essential for a healthy-looking face.
2.Eating sugar before bed
When you eat a lot of sugar right before bed, your blood sugar climbs high and then falls rapidly as your body releases hormones to bring the levels under control. Besides this, the sugar will sit in your body all night long, causing sleep trouble and possible some future unwanted teeth situations.
3.Not keeping a consistent sleeping schedule
We all know how it starts: a party that seems to never end, an exciting movie that started five minutes before your bedtime, a late dinner…Never mind, I’ll catch up on sleep the following day – that’s what I always say to myself when looking at the clock. The thing is disrupting bodily rhythms can cause insomnia – welcome, puffy eyes, uneven skin tone and increased appetite!
4.Sleeping on your chest
One of the most popular sleeping positions is also one of the worse in terms of beauty. Sleeping on your chest makes it difficult to maintain a good position for the neck and spine, leading to back pain. Facedown sleep can also cause face puffiness and unwanted wrinkles. The alternative? Try sleeping on your back in order to prevent wrinkles and morning puffiness.
5.Not changing your pillowcase
The playground for hair oils, germs and bacterias – one more reason to clean our complexions before going to bed – the pillowcase should be changed every week in order to prevent the damage to your face.
