BEACHWEAR THROUGH THE AGES

BEACHWEAR THROUGH THE AGES

Summer is in full swing and by now you might have built an entire beachwear-themed wardrobe – bikinis, one-pieces packed with glam appeal, flattering tankinis; the options are flooding when it comes to on-trend pieces, ready to help us score a few extra style points on the beach. However, things weren’t always that easy – unflattering costumes promoting modesty, thick fabrics and designs lacking comfort were just a few of the main struggles women had to deal with between 1900-1940. Things started to improve in the late 40’s, when chicer, more revealing options, replaced the old horrors.  Aiming to find out more about the evolution of the swimwear, I gathered a few vintage snapshots, showcasing the beachwear habits through the decades.
