CHANEL SPRING 2015 COUTURE
Tuesday this week, among the myriad of Couture collections currently taking Paris by assault, Karl Lagerfeld stole the spotlight with his Spring 2015 Couture collection for Chanel – as part of the brand’s constant reinvention, the designer transported the audience via an exotic garden of the distant future, a future of mechanical plants which open up on command, producing 300 psychedelic origami flowers – the perfect artificial paradise. The botanical atmosphere, inspired by one of Lagerfeld’s favorite movies, Metropolis, was only amplified when the models stepped down the runway, showcasing tweed cropped jackets adorned with leaves cut-outs, giant Edwardian hats, mesh flower gloves, ankle-hugging boots or embellished beanies – the kind of clothes that Lagerfeld’s new generation of muses – Cara Delevigne, Alice Dellal or Kylie Jenner – would actually enjoy wearing on a daily basis.
