From Chanel to Dior and beyond, they’re the stars

of the Fashion Week…still, what’s so cool about

couture sneakers?

Watching the Dior Couture show earlier this year I must confess my amazement when some of the outfits popped on the catwalk styled with sneakers instead of stilettos. The following day…the same story at Chanel – where the invasion of sneakers next to couture outfits was making a deliberate statement. The Chanel versions, wrapped in luxurious fabrics (python, lace, pearls to name a few) stole the spotlight, leaving the clothes on second base. Even though I support the joy of movement and I am aware of the importance of a comfortable shoe, especially during Fashion Weeks when the high heels can literally kill you, I am still in between feelings regarding this trend. While it looks cool worn by the street style stars and it’s still making a statement on the runway (see the Chanel FW 2014), I am not totally convinced to adopt it.
