MAKEUP AT GIVENCHY

For his F/W ‘15 collection, Ricardo Tisci searched for inspiration in the Victorian Era, mixing gothic elements with Latin aesthetics – though we’re talking about Tisci, the controversy wasn’t stirred by the outfits flooding the runway nor by the A-Listers overcrowded in the front row, as anyone who follows the designer might suppose. This time the element of surprise was represented by the glued-on crystal jewelry covering the models’ faces. Large nose rings resembling door-knockers, embellishments punctuated by white pearls and giant earrings created the illusion of 3-D makeup. Adding the curls that framed the maquillage, the result was as dramatic as any of Tisci’s fans would have hoped for. I bet it won’t be long before some of them will actually be seen wearing the Givenchy face jewelry. The question is: Would you try it?
