NYFW S/S 2016 BEAUTY HIGHLIGHTS

If only we needed more proves that time goes by before we know it… The exuberant affair of New York Fashion Week S/S 2016 just got to an end last night, leaving behind memories of giant spectacles, of innovative setups and tons of dreamy collections – among my favorites, Marc Jacobs’ declaration of love for the cinematography or Givenchy’s meditation on the losses of 9/11. Conscious there’s more to a show than statement-making outfits and contemplative setups, I turned my attention towards the NYFW S/S 2016 beauty, selecting the representations of hair and make-up that stood-out from the crowd.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

Diane Von Furstenberg celebrated the forty anniversary of the wrap dress with an ode to femininity. No wonder the explosion of girly – glam taking the runway by assault stole everyone’s attention in no time: the celeb-models wore their hair in loose curls, with colorful blooms tucked behind an ear, while highlighting their eyes with green/shimmery blue powder eyeshadow pigment. The result – breathtaking!

GIVENCHY

Conceived as a meditation on the losses of 9/11, the Givenchy S/S 2016 show was a reminder of reality. Although most of the hair and make-up displays appeared to be fuss-free, there were also throwbacks of the F/W 2015 season, beautifully elaborated golden jewelry and lace, replacing the ordinary make-up.

ALEXANDER WANG

No makeup – for the S/S 2016 collection Alexander Wang took the concept of natural beauty to the extremes. Zero foundation, zero lip balm, no mascara. Raw hairstyles complemented the make-up free concept.
