THEN AND NOW

THEN AND NOW

Whenever I ask someone who left their thirties behind, about their golden age they tend to go way back in their high-school or, the best case scenario in the early twenties, answering with wondering eyes: “back then I was young, I looked way better” – seriously? Do you even remember how you looked like in the early twenties, when experimenting at home the tie-dye hair color technique took a dramatic twist and all your hairdresser could do to save what was left of your hair was to cut it military-style? Or the time when the coolest thing you could think of in terms of makeup was to match that royal blue eye shadow with a matte red lipstick? Not to mention the outfits that looked like stolen from “The Bundies” props (don’t act like you forgot those black leggings + the polyester leopard-print jumper, I know you still have them somewhere in the back of your closet). So yet what’s so cool about being really young? The innocence and the lack of wrinkles I’d say – still, age brings along wisdom and with a proper care, those tacky wrinkles won’t strike your face till years from now. On the other hand, what’s so good about embracing your age – I don’t have enough space to enumerate all the benefits – actually I do, but only the following few come to my mind this instance: the independence, the fact that you’re able to afford that Chanel you’ve been dreaming of since high-school, and you’ve finally encountered a hairstylist who actually knows what he’s doing. All of the aforementioned put together have the power to make any of us look better than in the twenties – still, this ain’t gone make up for the lack of worries we had back then but we have to admit it’s a serious plus. And because some of us might have thrown the tackier photos of them – yeah,  that would be me, and who can blame me for wanting to erase any evidence of wearing that metallic red plunge neck dress at my seventeenth birthday? –  as a reminder that sometimes age isn’t your enemy but your ally, I rounded up some pictures of the celebs who will be haunted by the style choices made in their youth, even now, years after they found the right stylist. Good thing age brought them the wisdom to understand that in some cases, all you need is less.
