TRICKS FOR A NATURAL SKIN RUT

After surviving another never-ending winter, time has come to put our hands together and scream out loud: SPRING IS HERE! So let’s hear it for the sun lovers, for the nature enthusiasts and for the ones who passed through the freeze with the help of one thought:  to wear the Spring Collections.

However, we can all agree that reviving our wardrobes is infinitely easier than bringing light upon our sensitive complexions, stroked by the glacial season.  Because crises situations demand extreme measures, I decided to replace my usual beauty regimen with entirely natural products.  Surprisingly, after only a few days the results are starting to show – my face looks healthier, although I am not still convinced I am ready to give up my old stuff (because of laziness of course). If you’re in for something organic and are more devoted than me, here’s my recipe:

To Exfoliate: Use 2 parts sugar (regular white or brown sugar work great) to 1 part oil (almond, olive and coconut are great), add 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil (or the gel from a few capsules) and mix well.

To Cleanse: Mix about 1/4 castor oil or hazelnut oil and 3/4 of olive oil. Massage for at least a minute or until you are sure that the oil has saturated your skin. Place a clean washcloth under very hot tap water and put it over your face. Let it work for about 1 minute.

To Moisturize: You need 1/2 cup almond or olive oil, 1/4 cup coconut oil, 1/4 cup beeswax, 2 tablespoons of rose water and a few drops of eucalyptus oil.

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt together the first 3 ingredients. This only takes several seconds. Remove from the heat and whisk together with the last two ingredients. As the mixture cools, it will turn into a creamy consistency. It can be used as face and body moisturizer.

Mask:  Mash up half an avocado and mix it with about a tablespoon of honey. Slathered it all over your face and let it work its magic for about 10 minutes before washing it off with a washcloth.
