CHANGE IS GOOD…IS IT?
Quotes…My news feed is invaded by hundreds of them on a daily basis and, even though they tend to get as corny as daytime soaps – “No, I’m not watching it, there were commercials on Discovery Science and I landed here just when Theresa was kissing Rodolfo” – I would lie if I said I don’t take a glance at some of them – sometimes for amusement, other times out of extreme boredom, and the list could go on as sometimes I don’t even remember what my reasons were before getting lost in their flooding wiseness – I’m unlikely to trust any of them any time soon…Why? – Let’s take for instance “YOU HAVE TO BE ODD TO BE NUMBER ONE” – this one here steals away all the hopes I’ve been making to be number one at something… Why? Because I don’t have an inch of oddness in my bones. Another one: “THE FIRST STEP IS THE HARDEST” – well, I’d have to disagree on that since every time I take the stairs to my apartment, all the steps seem to be equally hard – If I were to be honest, the first ones seem to be less hard than the ones around second floor. And the one that disappointed me the most, as I tended to believe it when I was younger – “CHANGE IS GOOD”…Just to remember a few events that occurred when I followed this quote: my wavy long hair got from” LOVE IT” to “HATE IT” in a matter of minutes after trusting a hairstylist who said: Don’t be afraid of a change, aren’t you tired of seeing yourself in the mirror with the same cut in the last five years? No, I wasn’t tired till then but I sure was sad seeing the result. Other events that led me to distrusting the aforementioned quote –shopping for cosmetics and the beauty adviser telling me the Pure Velvet Mascara I was using in the past few years was discontinued but here’s a new version even better than the one I never left home without – trying it I can state: NO, the new one’s not even close to provide me that outrageous volume that left the others wondering: “Does she have fake lashes? “ And if life gets harder without a favorite mascara or a nail polish discontinued in the name of change, there are several products whose disappearance would hurt me as bad as losing a sibling (although I don’t have any siblings) – I’m sure you all have some of these kind and I’m waiting for you to tell me which cosmetics you’d got so found of at the point where you’d never be able to survive without. My list – down-below. And to finish with a quote, to all of those who discontinue our fave products in the name of change: WHY FIX SOMETHING THAT ISN’T BROKEN? Makes more sense, doesn’t it?
