LAST YEAR TRENDS THAT WILL CONTINUE IN 2015

LAST YEAR TRENDS THAT WILL CONTINUE IN 2015

Back in my teen days, when more than a dozen glossy magazines were finding their way to my front door on a monthly basis, resting proudly on my bookshelves not before their every word was rigorously memorized, while hard cover books written by renowned authors were timidly hiding in a shady corner of my patio, a “trend” was in my perception, as essential as breathing, something you absolutely can’t and wouldn’t dare trying to live without, if you dream to steal the spotlight on the high school’s runways (aka hallways) – as all things good, this “trend” word or state or whatever you’d like to call it was ephemeral (yes, just like Cinderella’s outfit when the clock strikes midnight, it transforms from hit to junk in a matter of, not hours, but months, in the best case scenario) . A pair of high-rise flare jeans, the pride and joy of my outfits for three months, suddenly became something I wouldn’t leave home dressed in, even if I were to walk in nothing but my underwear. Why? Because were finally born, and now waving at me from the display window, a brand new, pair of black mid-rise flare jeans, the source of pride and envy for the next few months. Who would notice the difference between a high-rise cut and a mid-one? Everyone of course: when I’m talking about everyone, I’m thinking of the biology teacher who’s class I was skipping with every chance, of the colleagues from the art and design course I was attending in the weekends, of the veterinary who took care of my dog whenever he had a flu. As I told you, everyone who’s or was someone back then.

Today? I’d like to think that age brought along a tiny dose of maturity, that helped me understand no one’s gone judge you if you don’t ditch the pair of jeans you were so in love with last year in favor of a new one, who looks more or less the same, that they won’t even notice if you are recycling your last year’s wardrobe adapting it to the current trends and that most of the trends last actually more than a season. And those who don’t? Those ones would come back in a matter of few seasons. So? Don’t despair and save everything you fell for when you purchased them.

Down-below you’ll find three of my favorite last year trends who fortunately didn’t finished their story at the end of 2014, continuing this year as well: normcore, back-to-school and bohemian appeal. Hoping you embraced them back then and you didn’t had enough, or you’re just starting to know them, this year you’ll have the chance to pay them the attention they deserve. The following style-inspo pictures are the best to testify.

NORMCORE:

Normcore = “unisex fashion trend characterized by unpretentious, average-looking clothing. “Normcore” is a portmanteau of the words “normal” and “hardcore”. The definition says it all – fashion is set to return to normality. Basically, all you have to do is to wear whatever makes you comfy. It just couldn’t get any easier, could it?

BACK-TO-SCHOOL:

Backpacks, kitchy prints and plaid dresses, what can be more fun than remembering the school years with the maturity of today?

BOHEMIAN MOMENT:

This one was and in my opinion will never be gone. Not even for a season. Why? It exudes a lethal dose of chicness that, mixed with laid-back attitude takes us to the time of wanderlust and absolute freedom.
