LET’S TALK ABOUT…BRANDS

I recently popped into a controversial debate about brands and why someone would never wear a certain brand, considering various reasons. I must confess that I never took things this serious – whenever I fall for a certain item, I don’t think about the designer’s background, his astrological sign or I don’t know what other reasons to avoid all of his products.

Let’s take for instance Michael Kors: call him copycat or not, he’s one of the most coveted American designers– ok, most of us don’t approve the fact that his inspiration comes from other designer’s collections but among his numerous “bulky” products, there are also a few clothing pieces that deserve a spot into my wardrobe. And those products are not gone slip through my fingers just because I disapprove his “other” designs or his second line of handbags. The same thing happens with Zara: most of their products are exact copies of the high-end designer’s collections, but this doesn’t stop me to enter their shop in search of some hidden gems.

The way I see it, it’s enough to show my disapproval for copycat styles or poor quality items by not buying the specific products who confront this problem – this doesn’t mean I’ll start ignoring a certain designer/brand and impose myself to never ever in a million years purchase from his shop.

What about you? Are there designers you would never buy from? Why’s that?
